The Chattanooga Pressure Reduction II cushions is intended primarily for use with wheelchairs. The cushion is made to accomodate the buttocks and thighs while creating the maximum pressure relief on bony prominences. The pressure distribution is created by a layer of gel on top of a layer of foam and is encased in an envelope of vinyl with a Ventex Recovery5 cover. The pressure in the pad is controlled by a unique air valve to allow the support pressure to be varied. This allows the patient to maximize their position and comfort. Like our original Pressure Reduction Wheelchair cushion, the PR II Wheelchair Cushion is engineered to reduce body interface pressure at critical points for a very wide range of body shapes, sizes and weights. The secret lies in the exclusive Gel Medex Layer. This gel layer responds to pressure by deforming slightly, which disperses critical weight over a larger surface area. Because the gel of the PR II Wheelchair Cushion will not migrate, it is effective in any position. Cushions are available in two of the highest quality cover materials for interface pressure reduction: Recovery5 and SOFleece III. Recovery5 is nylon backed polyurethane polyester fabric designed for aplications where flexible cover fabric with antimicrobrial performance is desired for the benefit of infection control. SOFleece III is a 100% 100-denier polyester Swiss Pique fabric with polyurethane backing designed where patient comfort, four way stretch and lauderability is desired. Both covers are flame retardant, fluidproof and available in three sizes.
